Our Team

Meet the Team

The Cotswolds Rivers Trust is run by volunteers as a limited company and charitable organisation.

Dr Peter Walker Chairman Cotswolds Rivers Trust

Ashley Smith

Director of the Cotswolds Rivers Trust. In addition to my role as a director of the rivers trust I have been running the Windrush Against Sewage Pollution group for five years with about ten people, becoming a persistent critic of Thames Water over its sewage pollution record; helping to fill a gap left by the Environment Agency due to under-funding

Dave Whittles, Director and webmaster joined the trust this year. He retired from a wide-ranging career in marketing, business analysis and IT security. Originally training as a freshwater biologist at Stirling University, he worked for 6 years at Bibury Trout Farm. Dr Richard Knowles

Director of the Cotswolds Rivers Trust. Richard retired after a long teaching career in 2017.  He has been involved in a voluntary capacity in campaigns to preserve and protect the Cotswold rivers for many years. He is secretary of the Upper Thames Fisheries Consultative and also Chairman of Cotswold Flyfishers.  His involvement in river related campaigns began in the 1980s when, re-visiting the Windrush after many years of absence, he noted how turbid it had become.

Debbie Campbell

Director of the Cotswolds Rivers Trust, Debbie joined the trust in 2022. Debbie has always had a connection to water, and is as passionate about conservation as she is swimming and surfing. However, after one wild swim left her vomiting due to sewage entering her body, she decided to make it her full time job to stop the dumping of waste into rivers. She works with the Windrush Catchment Partnership and in support of the Trust.
